Bring the water to a boil, then reduce it to a simmer and let the tea simmer for 30-40 minutes.

Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the tea to cool completely.

Strain out the herbal mixture to remove solid particles.

Storing mixture in bottle

Store the liquid in a spray bottle for easy application.

Applying to hair

Generously apply the herbal dye to your hair until it is completely saturated.

Comb through your hair to ensure even coating.

Leave the dye on for two to four hours, or longer for a deeper color, then shampoo your hair as usual after the desired time.

Lightened hair

5. Repeat the application

This is how my hair looked after the first application, but this herbal brown hair dye requires several applications a week to achieve the desired tone.

Lightened hair

This was the result I got from the DIY hair dye after using it three or four times a week for one month.
