Wearing gloves to make the body butter

1. wear gloves

As a safety precaution, be sure to wear gloves before making your homemade body butter for eczema.

2. Make the body butter

Place your large mixing bowl on a digital scale, then add your shea butter and add it to the bowl. The ratio should be 70% shea butter.

The amount you use is really up to you; I normally make five jars from this recipe.

Once you’ve placed the amount you want, go ahead and melt down the shea butter with a double-boiler method.

Note: Shea butter has many great uses and works well for dry skin.

Once it’s melted, pour in all your carrier oils. You can use any carrier oils you like; almond oil, vitamin E oil, and so forth.

Try to incorporate them with the melted shea butter while it’s still hot. If you put them in while the shea butter is still over a stovetop, the nutrients in the oil can burn out.

Now, mix your oils for about 2-3 minutes. A stick blender also works great to speed up the process.

3. Put it in the freezer

Once your homemade body butter for eczema has all the ingredients, simply wrap your bowl with cling wrap and pop it in the freezer until it somewhat solidifies.

Whipping the DIY body butter

4. Whip the body butter

Now it’s time to blend your body butter. Put it in your blender and blend until smooth. The edges may still be frozen but be sure to blend it all out to get the consistency you want.

Stirring the DIY body butter with a spatula

Also, make sure to stir from the bottom to make sure everything is incorporated.

It gets a much smoother texture and doubles in size as you keep going.

Adding fragrance to the DIY body butter

5. Add the scented oil

Once you get the texture to your liking, add your fragrance oil. Fold it in your mixture and blend. I used raspberry and vanilla.

Decanting the body butter into a piping bag

6. Pipe the body butter

I didn’t have a piping bag, and for those who also don’t, you can use a Ziplock bag for this step. Simply cut off the corner and slide in your piping tip.

Tip: Be careful not to cut the hole too big.

Now, add the body butter into the bag. Use a bucket for ease of use. Do your best to get every last bit of whipped body butter into your bag.

Piping the DIY body butter into jars

My hole was too big, so I couldn’t use the tip. Now, pipe the body butter into your jars. Work quickly as the body butter will eventually solidify.

Tapping the jars to get the air out

Make sure to tap the jars after every pipe so you can get more body butter inside. It also gets the air out from the jar.
