Wowzer, where has the English summer gone?

I'm so thrilled that I've got my new cream linen trousers to wear, they're so great to wear in any weather. I'm going to show you how I made them and how to style them 2 ways for any season!!

The pattern is the Free Range Slacks by Sew House Seven and you can grab it here > Free-Range Slacks Sewing Pattern (PDF) – Sew House Seven (sewhouse7.com) Its such a great pattern and so easy to adjust to any shape. I made my fab linen trousers in Cream Linen which I scooped from Minerva.com You can find it here > Minerva Core Range Mill Washed 100% Linen Fabric | 1196582 | Minerva Its the perfect weight for trousers and I loved working with it!!

So, here we are ready to begin, I've already pre-washed my linen (please do this as linen will most likely shrink the first time its washed)

I've laid out the pattern pieces and I'm ready to get cutting.

This is such a great, simple and easy pattern that we're going to be finished and wearing them in a flash!!

The first step in the Free Range slacks is adding the front pockets. So here we are all pinned on and ready to stitch!

Next up is stitching the back pockets on, they are patch pockets and I like to use plenty of pins, we don't want those bad boys in the wrong spot do we!

Once the pockets are finished we start constructing the legs. The Free Range slacks have a really interesting construction with 3 panels to each leg, here you can see I've stitched the 3 panels together and I've just got to close the inseam.

So lets close that inseam now then we have the whole leg sewn!

We're almost finished, here I've pinned the 2 legs together at the crotch seam, once we have stitched this we just have to add the elastic to the waist and were ready to head out of the door!!

And, here we are all ready for a day at the beach, here I've styled them withy my Havianas, sunglasses and a lovely pink tank. A perfect summer outfit.

But, for more transitional styling I love them paired with a lovely soft hand knit and some chunky leather boots!

I'd love to know which way you like them styled, so please pop a comment below and let me know your thoughts!!
