Follow along to learn how to use and make this rosemary water for hair growth. It’s easy to do and includes natural ingredients.

Rosemary has anti-inflammatory properties, promotes nerve growth and improves circulation.

It also prevents premature graying, dandruff and dry, itchy scalp! Let’s get started!

Tools and materials:

  • Measuring cups
  • Water
  • Cooking pot
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs
  • Peppermint
  • Mixing spoon
  • Bowl
  • Colander
  • Spray bottle
  • Rosemary essential oil
  • Claw clips
  • Shower cap

1. Add water and rosemary to a pot

Pour about 1 ½ cups of water into a pot. Then add 5-6 sprigs of rosemary to the water.

2. Add in peppermint leaves

Next, add in a handful of fresh peppermint leaves.

Peppermint is a vasodilator, meaning that it stimulates the scalp, working perfectly with the rosemary.

It also leaves a fresh, tingling sensation on the scalp, smells great and promotes hair growth.

3. Bring to a boil

Cover the contents and bring them to a boil.

Once it begins to bubble, let it simmer for 10-15 minutes.

4. Cool your rosemary water

You’ll know it’s ready once the herbs look cooked and the color of the liquid changes to a yellowish color.

Remove the pot from the heat and cover it with the lid until the mixture cools completely.

This could take about an hour, or just leave it overnight.

5. Pour through a colander and transfer to a spray bottle

Put a colander inside a larger bowl and pour the mixture through. At this point, the liquid should be more of a brown color.

With the measurements I used, it came to about 1 cup in total.

Transfer the rosemary water into a spray bottle.

This product does not go bad quickly, so you can easily store it in the fridge and use it more frequently.

6. Add essential oils (optional)

This is completely optional. But, if you have oily hair or dislike the feeling of applying rosemary oil directly to your scalp, you can add about 10 drops to your rosemary water.

This will kick up the potency of the rosemary without weighing down your hair.

Adding essential oil

You can also add 10 drops of peppermint essential oil to the mix.

If this is your first time using it, you might want to use just 5 drops because it’s quite strong.

7. Apply rosemary water for hair growth

There are 2 ways to apply the mixture.

You can either apply it to dirty hair or you can apply it after you use shampoo but before you condition your hair.

I tend to choose the first route. Shake the bottle in case the ingredients separated.

Applying rosemary water

Spray the mixture mainly on your scalp and rub it in as you go. You can use claw clips to section your hair.

It’s okay to spray it on your hair if you want, but this is a bit wasteful because most of the benefits come from applying it to your scalp.

Applying rosemary water

Some people like to use this treatment daily. But if you have dry hair or you don’t wash your hair daily, you’ll only want to use it on the days when you wash your hair or the night before washing your hair.

This is because rosemary has mild astringent properties which can make your hair feel dry.

For this reason, I also don’t leave it on my hair for too long. Applying it once a week or once every other week will also give you amazing hair growth benefits.

Once it’s worked into your scalp, treat yourself to a nice scalp massage. The sensory activation will further stimulate your scalp and help all the ingredients do their magic.

Plus, it’s relaxing and helps lower stress levels.

Finally, cover your hair with a shower cap, leaving it on for about an hour, or go under heat for about 20 minutes.
