This DIY heels project is something I wanted to do for quite a while. I had this vision to transform a pair of heels into fringe heels, but I needed the right pair to do so. Luckily, I managed to stumble upon these strappy heels at the thrift store.

So, you could call this DIY custom heels project with a bit of an upcycle, too! I can’t wait to show you the results, so let’s jump into it,

Tools and materials:

  • Strappy heels
  • E6000 glue
  • Clamps
  • Scissors
  • Fringe
  • Gold clip-on earrings
Strappy heels before the DIY

Gluing the fringe to the heel strap

1. Glue on the fringe

So, I have some leftover fringe trim from another DIY, but you can get this anywhere. The first step is to glue it along the top front strap. So, grab your handy E6000 glue and get gluing!

Clamping the fringe while the glue dries

2. Clamp and let the glue dry

Next, cut the fringe to size and place it on the strap. Clip your clamps, so it holds everything down. It will need to sit like this for around 24 hours.

Gluing gold embellishments to the shoes

3. Add gold earrings

I got these gold clip-on earrings from a thrift store, too. I decided to use these as embellishments and glue them on either side of the strap.

Trimming the fringe

4. Trim the fringe

Once everything has dried after 24 hours, remove the clamps and make sure everything is holding well. Next, trim the fringe if needed. Mine was way too long, and I kept on stepping on it from the side.

I cut the fringe at an angle on each side so there had a v-shape design.
