Patriotic Denim Shorts Makeover With BUTTONS

Patriotic Denim Shorts MakeoverLet’s do a little Patriotic Denim Shorts Makeover! If you have an old pair of jean shorts in need of a little patriotic pick-me-up, here is a really quick and fun way to get them ready to celebrate, red…white…and blue style. These would be fabulous for a little girl to wear in a patriotic parade or to a Fourth of July picnic.
Materials Needed:
- You will need the following items to make this project.
- denim shorts
- Buttons (red, white, blue and green)
- Embroidery Floss. I used Coats and Clark because I LOVE it.
- Scissors
Directions to Sew on the Buttons
- Here are the directions on how to stitch on the buttons in picture form.
- Start with the outside buttons for petals.
- Add a larger center button.
- Layer another button in the center if desired.
- Stitch a stem.
- Add buttons for leaves.
And here they are…ready to wear! These button flowers could be added to any clothing item or a fabric accessory. If sewing is not your gig, they could be attached with a fabric glue too. If you choose to use a fabric glue, I recommend Fabri-Fuse from E-6000.
Happy Celebrating and Creating Fashion!

This is a great technique to use that works on not only denim, but other fabrics too. It is a great addition to an accessory, a sweater and even a long pair of jeans.
