Hi everyone. Today, I’m going to show you why you should cut the arms off of an old sweater that you never wear.


This simple change transforms your old sweater into a cute and trendy sweater vest that you can wear on its own or with a shirt layered underneath.


So grab an old sweater that's sitting at the back of your closet and let’s jump into the tutorial.

  • Old sweater
  • Scissors
  • Pins
  • Needle and thread

Cutting sleeves

1. Chop your sleeves off

Follow the natural sleeve seam of your sweater and remove the sleeves with a pair of sharp scissors.

2. Sew the raw edges

Fold the raw sleeve hole edges inward and pin them down. Then sew them to prevent fraying.
