Transform a Dollar Store Basket Into a Stylish Denim Bucket Handbag

In this project, I'm grabbing a plastic basket from the dollar store and transforming it into a cute stylish denim bucket handbag. I'm cutting up some old recycled jeans to create this unique handbag. I added some half cut beads to the bottom for a little more design and I really like the end result. This DIY is a great option to reuse some old jeans! Check out the transforming steps below!

How to Transform a Dollar Store Basket into a Stylish Denim Bucket Handbag

What I used:

• Up-cycled jeans
• Gold Chain
• Half Cut Beads
• Dollar Store Cloth Laundry Hamper
• Dollar Store Plastic Basket
• Jump Rings
• Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
• E6000 Glue
• Scissors

Step 1: Start by using some scissors to cut the pair of jeans along the seams. Use these cuts jeans to cover the handles of the plastic basket.

Step 2: Adhere the jeans to the basket using E6000 for a strong hold and hot glue for it to adhere faster.

Step 3: Deconstruct a cloth laundry hamper from the dollar store to be used for the inside lining of the basket. (Save the strings from the laundry basket for the drawstring of the handbag).

Step 4: Adhere the hamper inside the basket as a liner.

Step 5: Cut and use the top half of the denim jeans to cover the entire plastic basket.

Step 6: Cut the jeans as needed to cover the basket.

Step 7: Create and space holes in the jeans along the top part of the basket to weave the string from the hamper into the jeans to create a drawstring.

Step 8: Add jump rings to the belt loops at opposite ends.

Step 9: Add and adhere half cut beads or any other decorations to the denim.

Step 10: Then, add a chain as the strap to finish.
