Tips to Keep Your Hair Healthy and Shiny

I wanted to share my routine for keeping my hair silky and smooth. I have naturally fine and straight hair, so these tips are built around my specific hair type.

Once a week, I have added in oiling my scalp to my haircare routine. I have some homemade rosemary oil that I apply to dry hair and massage into my scalp. I let it sit for as long as possible, whether that's just 30 minutes or several hours, then hop into the shower and wash it out. I spend a few minutes making sure that most of the oil has been massaged into my scalp, then use a claw clip to keep my hair out of the way in the meantime.

This shampoo and conditioner from Nioxin have been a game changer for me. If you have any hair loss or thinning, these products are designed to act as a remedy. I have extremely sensitive skin and found that certain brands were too harsh on my scalp, but this combo has left my scalp feeling fresh, clean, and healthy with no adverse skin problems. I wash my hair multiple times a week and have found that this shampoo allows me to stretch my hair out for an extra day which is an added bonus.

When it comes to styling, this Living Proof Restore Protecting Spray is what I use to protect from heat damage. I like to blow dry my hair and also to use heat tools for styling (e.g., curling iron or flat iron), so it's important to have a product that keeps your hair protected. I have sensitive skin and have had no issues with this product, which is also a plus. However, any heat protectant spray that works for you should do the job.

On top of the products that I use, I also make sure to have a high quality hair brush as I brush my hair multiple times throughout the day. Here is a high quality and also a more affordable brush option that I love to use. As a note, it's important to only use tools that are specifically designed for wet hair if you brush your hair while it's still wet.

Overall, these tips and tricks are what I do on a weekly basis to maintain shiny and silky hair. You can shop similar products to what I've mentioned using the links in the text.
