Turn a Thrift Store Doily Into THIS for Spring! 😍
I saw a really pretty lacy crop top that I fell in love with. I wanted to see if I could recreate it myself inexpensively, and I came up with this design.
You can use any color or design of doily, as long as it’s large enough to tie around you.

Tools and materials:
- Large doily
- Half inch (1 cm) wide ribbon
- Nude bra or crop top
1. Gather your materials
You want a doily that’s at least coffee table size or larger. I found a pretty pink oval shaped one.
You can often find vintage doilies in thrift stores.
I also got a reel of ribbon in a contrast color.
2. Add the ribbon
Thread a length of the ribbon through the shorter ends of the doily.
Make sure the ends are long enough to tie behind you.
3. Fold the top edge
Hold the doily in front of you with the shorter ends on either side.
Fold the top edge to the inside.
4. Tie the top
Pull on both ends of each ribbon length until the sides are the width you feel comfortable with.
Take the ribbons behind your back and tie them securely together.
Adjust the top to your liking.
DIY doily top
I’m so happy with how this turned out! If you’re worried about the ribbon coming untied, you can use a small safety pin to hold the sides together.
