Tools and materials:

  • Rubber nose
  • Spirit gum
  • Assorted brushes
  • Powder
  • Gluestick
  • Makeup sponge
  • Black eyeshadow
  • Face paint palette
  • Liquid eyeliner gel
  • Contact lenses
  • Nun outfit
  • Red icing
Gluing on the fake nose

1. Glue on the nose

A Valak costume is nothing without her long, slender nose, and it’s an iconic center point. I got a rubber nose from Amazon, and I’m basically gluing it on my nose with spirit gum.

Gluing the nostrils

Glue the nostrils accordingly.

Gluing down eyebrows with a gluestick

2. Hide your eyebrows

Using a gluestick, go ahead and cover your eyebrows.

Applying loose powder to eyebrows

Next, apply loose powder over your eyebrows.

Powdering the fake nose

Powder your nose to get rid of any sticky spots.

Set your face with powder.

Hollow out your cheeks by using a contour color - you can use any brown color you have. Also, eyeshadows work great. Then, take a black eyeshadow and apply it over the contoured sections; this will add some depth to your Valak the nun makeup look.

Doing Valak the nun makeup

Mix the brown and black and apply it to the sides of your nose.

Also, work your way up toward your eyebrows to give off a long, slender appearance.

Recreating Valak the nun makeup

Add black eyeshadow to your brush, wet it, and flick it onto your face to make small spots. Then, rub the spots with your fingers for a dirty, grim vibe.

4. Add black paint

Using a brush, apply black face paint around your eyes.

Building up black around the eyes

If the black face paint is not as pigmented as you want, just go in with gel eyeliner to build the color.

Painting veins for the Valak the nun makeup

5. Add veins

Add some veins to your Valak the nun makeup look.

Drawing crow's feet on the face

6. Add crows feet

Add small lines right on the side of the black paint to mimic crow's feet.

Applying black paint to the lipsticks

7. Apply lipstick

As you can see, I’m applying black paint to my lips. I do not recommend this at all since it did not hold well. Try using black lipstick for this step.

Smudging the black lipstick

Now, with a sponge, smudge the lipstick around your lips.

8. Add the finishing touches

With gel eyeliner, line your top and bottom waterline. This will ensure that everything is blackened out.

Thank you so much for this tutorial!! I skipped doing white around the eyes & mouth to get a darker black instead of gray! I used dollar tree charcoal powder on top of the black & for the stipple effect!!! 😁
