When it comes to my wardrobe comfort is my #1 priority. There’s a few different thing’s I have to take into consideration as well though: Is the fabric comfortable, breathable and durable? Does it go with other things in my wardrobe? Can I take a nap in it? That’s why I love Liverpool knit so much. It pretty much checks all my boxes and looks nice enough to go to work in but comfy enough to fall asleep in as well. Everything I make out of it becomes secret pajamas.

What the heck is Liverpool Knit? Glad you asked. Liverpool knit fabric is a textured stretch crepe fabric used for fashion apparel garments. It has an almost "spongey surface and sometimes it's referred to as bullet knit. With ample stretch across the grain, this stable knit fabric is ideal for dresses, loosely constructed jackets, skirts, pants and tops. This material is less stretchy than other knit fabrics which makes it easier to work with. It has some weight to it that makes it more structured and less flowy. Basically, it's amazing.

Until recently, I pretty much only made pencil skirts in Liverpool knit. Then I decided to make some pajama bottoms in Liverpool knit. Well, I immediately fell in love with them. Last month, I saw that my favorite indie pattern company had a new blazer pattern just for knits. I loved the idea of a knit blazer, so I decided to make it in the same Liverpool fabric I made my pajama bottoms in and have a matching set.

Here are my pajama bottoms in Liverpool knit. The elastic waist and side seam pockets make them not just comfortable but functional too. I used the Luna Lounge Bottoms pattern by Love Notions but you can use any pattern really. This particular pattern is great because it includes 5 pieces: cami, knee-length nighty, bralette, capris and shorts.

By making the capris in a more structured knit like Liverpool fabric it takes them from PJ’s to something you can dress up or down. You can wear them with a t-shirt and Converse for a casual look or throw on a Blazer and heels for a matching suit set.

This outfit feels as comfy as pajamas. You could take a nap in it and it won't even wrinkle. By wearing a blazer with the capris it completely changes the whole vibe. It's so fun and no one will even notice you're actually wearing pajama bottoms.

You can also do the same thing with a skirt. I happen to love pencil skirts and Converse. However, if you are like me and still want other options The Sybil Illusion Skirt by Love Notions is a great pattern. It’s a beginner friendly pattern that comes with 7 different skirt options as well as sizes xs-3xl. Below is a picture of the pattern.

Just by adding this cute blazer and heels to a skirt you can have a completely different look. You can look professional, but don’t have to sacrifice comfort. I love it!

Both looks are super comfortable and both looks I could easily nap in. There's really no reason to sacrifice comfort to look professional. You can have both. This is a wardrobe win in my opinion!
