Today I will show you how to wear a necktie as a belt. This DIY is super easy. You can use whichever color or pattern you prefer. You can use your boyfriend's tie, husband’s, friend’s, or brother's! Let's get started.

Tools and materials:

  • Necktie 
  • Safety pin
How to make a belt from a necktie

1. Line up the front 

Line up the thickest part of the tie along the front part of your waist. 


The thickest part of the tie is optimal for the front. 


Here, I am using a solid pink tie but you can use whichever colors and patterns you prefer! That is the beauty of using a tie as a belt, there is so much room for creativity.

2. Wrap around 

Wrap the tie around your waist until the front point meets with the rest. 


Make sure to align the tie so that the front point meets the rest of the tie at the center of the point.


Adjust tightness as desired.

3. Secure the belt

Fasten the tie belt with a safety pin at the point where the end meets the rest of the tie. 


Make sure to fasten the safety pin from the inside so that it is not visible.

4. Adjust the look

Once the tie belt is fastened securely, adjust your shirt or dress accordingly until the belt sits the way you like it.
