3 Ways to Wear Yellow for Spring

One of the hottest colors for Spring 2022 is yellow. Sunny and bright, yellow is a perfectly optimistic hue that feels right after two years of dark pandemic fear and frustration. I decided to put together some outfits from what I had in my closet to show three ways to wear yellow for spring.

As a Pop of Color

If you just want to dip your toe into the idea of wearing yellow, putting on a pop with an accessory or two is the answer. Find some fun shoes, a bright purse, maybe a hat or statement earrings and pair it with something you regularly wear like neutrals, jeans or a casual sheath dress, like the one I have on here. This works exceptionally well if you aren’t quite comfortable wearing bold colors or don’t feel yellow looks good on you. There’s no reason you should miss out on this “it” color for spring!  Show yellow purses.

Monochrome Yellow

An entire outfit of yellow says spring all over it. A monochrome look means wearing all one color. But you can create interest with different shades, tones and tints, patterns and textures of yellow for a springtime statement. Here I went retro with a floral, 1950s-era vintage dress with a vintage purse, a simple yellow cardigan sweater – because it’s still a little chilly on spring days -- and some basic yellow flats. Nothing says springtime like floral prints, and you can find them in almost any color.  Shop yellow floral dresses.

Yellow and Blue Complementary Colors

If you’re wondering what color you should pair with yellow, take a look at a color wheel. You’ll see that pastel yellow and golden yellow shades have blues and purples on the opposite side. This makes them complementary colors (aka contrasting colors) that will work well together to create a striking outfit. Try working in a complementary color with separates, such as a yellow top and blue jacket or in your accessories. I paired a yellow jumper dress with a scarf featuring yellow and blue. Then I added another pop of blue in my shoes. The complementing colors create interest, and blue is also a fun color for spring.  Shop blue and yellow scarves.
