Today, we are going to show you how to make an amazing DIY hair detangler spray.

We have been obsessed with getting healthier hair lately. This is an all natural detangling spray that you can easily make at home.

In addition to being a detangler it can also be used as a leave-in conditioner. There is so much junk in store bought detangling sprays and leave-in conditioners. There’s no way to know how it might be negatively affecting our hair.

This recipe is all natural and actually good for your hair!

Tools and materials:

  • Spray bottle
  • Vitamin E oil
  • Lavender essential oil
  • Vegetable glycerin
  • Funnel
Dampening hair

1. Wash or dampen your hair

This hair detangler works really well on damp hair. The best way to use it is right after a shower.

If your hair is dry and you don’t feel like showering, you can just spray it with some water to dampen it.

Gathering ingredients

2. Gather your ingredients

Gathering ingredients

You only need 4 ingredients for this recipe.

You will need vitamin E oil. Vitamin E oil helps moisturize and protect your hair. It can tame frizzy hair. It can also repair damaged hair and split ends.

Gathering ingredients

You will also need lavender essential oil.

Lavender essential oil increases circulation to the scalp, strengthening hair follicles and encouraging your hair to grow thicker and faster. It also has antibacterial and antiseptic properties.

Gathering ingredients

We are also going to be using vegetable glycerin.

Vegetable glycerin seals in moisture. Just know, you should never use vegetable glycerin raw. Always dilute with water or you risk drying out your hair. If your hair is dyed you will also risk stripping the color off if it’s not diluted.

We’re only going to be using one tablespoon of this for our entire mixture. When used properly it’s really good for your hair.

Gathering ingredients

The final and most natural ingredient is water.

Measuring ingredients into spray bottle

2. Measure and pour ingredients into a spray bottle:

  • 1 tablespoon of vegetable glycerin
  • ½ teaspoon of vitamin E oil
  • 1 cup of water
  • 8-10 drops of lavender essential oil
Shaking bottle

3. Shake well

Use a spray bottle to contain your detangler.

Once you have added each ingredient to the bottle, shake it up and it’s ready to use. It’s that simple.

Applying spray to tangled hair

4. Apply to tangled hair

Detangled hair

You can either use it as a leave-in conditioner or as a detangler for after you come out of the shower.

To use it as a detangler after the shower just towel dry your hair a bit so it’s not dripping wet but is still damp.

Spray it onto your hair and see how easily you will be able to comb through any knots.

Chances are you probably have a lot of these products, but if you don’t you can look in Whole Foods, CVS, or Amazon.

Making your own products is great because you know exactly what you’re putting on your body. Store bought products can contain so many toxic ingredients that are unhealthy to apply to your hair and skin.

What is great about this spray is that it uses four natural ingredients that are safe and healthy for your hair and scalp.
