Can You Make a Dress Without Sewing? This Sexy No-Sew Dress Says Yes!

Yes, you really can make a stunning dress with no sewing! You’ll only need fabric, scissors, a measuring tape, and about 15 minutes of your time for this DIY no-sew dress. What more could you ask for? Ready? Then let’s get started on your sexy no-sew dress!
Tools and materials:
- 1½ yards of self-finished stretchy fabric
- Measuring tape
- Fabric chalk or marker
- Scissors
Self-finished fabric is fabric with a selvage, or an edge that is already finished so it won’t need to be hemmed and won’t fray.
1. Make the pattern
Fold your self-finished fabric in half widthwise, with the right-side facing in. Measure the length you want your dress to be from top to bottom.
Mine measures 36 inches long from the top to the bottom. Mark your length on your fabric.
Also mark your bust point, under-bust and hip position on your fabric.
Measure the circumference of your bust, divide that measurement in half and mark that half-measurement along the bust line on your fabric, starting at the folded edge.
Do the same thing for your hip measurement along the hip line and your under-bust measurement along that corresponding line.
Subtract 3 inches from your hip circumference, divide that number in half, and mark that half-measurement along the hem line.
Now connect all the line ends with a single curved line and cut off the excess fabric from below hem line.
Mark a line 2-inches down from the top on the left edge of the fabric (the non-folded side).
Mark a point on the fabric 6 inches beyond the hip end line. Draw a vertical line on your fabric from the top left line to the bottom of the fabric at that 6-inch extension point.
2. Cut out the dress pattern
Cut along those two new lines, making a slight curve at the corner where they join and cutting about an inch inside the vertical line. Note that you now have a long tab at the top of your dress.
3. Cut the ties
Using your tape measure, make lines every 1½ inches along the cut edge, starting at the bottom and ending 1½ inches below the tab at the top.
Cut into the fabric at each of the 1½-inch marks, leaving a couple of inches between the end of the cut and the outline of the dress.
4. Wear the no-sew dress
Wrap the dress around you from the back to the front, holding on to the top, longest tab.
Criss-cross the top tab at the front of your neck and tie it at the back of your neck.
Now, tightly tie and double knot each corresponding pair of ties all the way down the dress. Because your fabric is stretchy, when you tightly knot the ties, you will get a nice cinched look down the center front of your dress.
