Learn How to Make a Sweater Dress in Just a Few Simple Steps
I absolutely love everything about sweaters! They are cozy and comfy and that’s why I had the idea of making a sweater dress. This was one of the easiest sewing projects and the result is just amazing! If you want to learn all the ins and out of making this stunning dress, my tutorial is definitely for you! Follow a few, easy, and simple steps and DIY an amazing sweater dress. This piece has all the perks of a sweater but can totally be dressed up or down for different occasions.
Tools and materials:
- Sweater
- Button-down shirt
- Pins
- Pencil
- Sewing machine
- Scissors
To get started on this gorgeous sweater dress, I started by cutting out the back of the dress but I left the hood on because it's a super-cute element of this sweater.
Next, I cut the front off of a white button-down shirt. I would be using the back of the shirt as the back on my new, cute dress.
Using the sweater as a pattern, I marked the shirt so that I would know exactly where I would need to cut it so that it would fit perfectly as the back of the dress.
Once I had cut the shirt, I pinned it onto the sweater and sewed around, following my pinned markings. I couldn’t wait to see the end result!
