Essential Handbags You Need in Your Wardrobe

So many occasions, so many handbags. Whether you have a vast collection of purses you’ve acquired over the years or are slimming down to a capsule wardrobe, you need a few handbag sizes in your closet. And with spring blooming, the calendar is filling up with all kinds of activities – so get ready!

Here are four essential handbags you need in your wardrobe.

The Classic Purse

This purse shape is not too big or small, just enough to carry your phone, wallet, keys, lipstick and a compact. With a medium-length strap, you can carry it by hand, hook it into the crook of your elbow, or even push it up to the shoulder to get it out of the way for certain tasks. The shape is sometimes called a crescent, baguette, or small hobo bag. I have mine in classic black leather that pretty much goes with anything and works for daytime or evening looks.  Shop classic purses.

Crossbody Bag

Perfect for running out for errands and travel, the crossbody bag keeps your essentials close for quick shopping trips or sightseeing in a new city. Just enough for your phone, wallet, keys and lip balm, a small crossbody bag keeps things light so you don’t feel bogged down. This one is my favorite in a black canvas material with studded silver hardware for an edgy look.  Shop crossbody bags.

The Tote

When you’re going to be out and about all day, going for a trip to the summer market or shopping for a few things, a tote is your friend in that it holds a wealth of things, from a laptop to some groceries. You’ll be friendly to the environment by not taking a disposable bag from every store, and your purchases will be stylishly tucked from sight. Totes come in all shapes and styles, but I like this one made from repurposed coffee bean bags.  Shop totes.

The Evening Clutch

You don’t want to drag around all of your daytime items when out on the town for a night. A slim, handheld clutch in an all-purpose metallic will go with any evening look, looks like a piece of jewelry and is just enough to hold keys, ID and your phone. Mine belonged to my mom and is a lovely vintage box style with metallic shades of gold.  Shop evening clutches.

I need to go handbag shopping! I do have a black patent leather evening bag, but it doesn't go with everything. So silver metallic is on my list. I think it'll look good with my rhinestone trimmed navy heels. Thanks for the tips.

Thanks for the comment, Kassi! Glad I could inspire some fun shopping. I think metallics are a good neutral that can go with everything. Hope you find your dream silver bag!
