8-Step Hair Care Routine for Damaged Hair With DIY Hair Oil & Mask

Today, I want to show you my hair care routine for damaged hair. This will include a DIY hair oil treatment, a homemade hair mask, plus tips for making dry, damaged, lifeless hair healthy again. Let's get started.
Tools and materials:
- Extra virgin olive oil
- Black castor oil
- Red pimento oil
- Mayonnaise
- Full-fat plain yogurt
- Coconut oil
- Honey
- Hydrating conditioner
- Shower cap
- Sulfate-free shampoo
1. Make the oil
First, I add three tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil to a bowl.
Then, I add one tablespoon of black castor oil to it.
Next, I add 1 tablespoon of red pimento oil.
2. Apply the oil
To add it to my hair, I start by sectioning my hair in half.
I mix up the hair oil once my hair is ready. I then rub it between my hands and coat them up well.
Then, I start massaging it into my roots. This is going to help condition the scalp while also enhancing blood circulation to the scalp.
The blood circulation will help your hair grow faster and also strengthen it.
Next, I apply the oil to the rest of the strands of my hair as well. It acts as a deep conditioning treatment before shampooing.
Once my hair is fully coated, I throw my hair into a bun. I add a shower cap to lock in the heat from my head, which will help the ingredients absorb into my hair. I typically leave it on for 30 minutes or longer.
3. Remove the oil
After 30 minutes, I rinse it out.
Then, I shampoo it with some sulfate-free shampoo. This will cleanse your hair without drying it out too much.
4. Make the hair mask
Now it's time for a DIY moisturizing hair mask. I start by adding half a cup of mayonnaise to a bowl.
Then, I add 2 tablespoons of plain, full-fat yogurt.
Next, I add 2 tablespoons of coconut oil, which I melted in the microwave.
Finally I add one teaspoon of honey.
I mix them all together and create the DIY hair mask.
5. Apply the hair mask
Once it is mixed, I apply it to my clean wet hair and evenly distribute it over my hair while avoiding the roots.
Then I throw on the shower cap again and leave it on for 10 minutes or more.
6. Remove the hair mask
After 10 minutes, I rinse my hair thoroughly and shampoo it again with a sulfate-free shampoo. Make sure to get all of the mask completely out of your hair, especially because of the mayonnaise in it.
7. Squish to condish
Next, I use a hydrating conditioner, and I'm going to use a technique called "squish to condish". Basically, I squish the conditioner into my hair cuticles as it makes your hair so, so soft.
8. Rinse
Then I rinse it with cool water. Now, it's ready to style!
