Make This Cute Ice Cream Decorated Tote Bag For Summer
Do you need tote bags for summer activities, work, or back-to-school? Follow this tutorial to learn how to decorate a tote bag and make it uniquely yours! I will show you my ice cream tote bag and give you some other tote bag decoration ideas.
Tools and materials:
- Plain tote bag
- Pom-poms
- Acrylic fabric paint
- Craft paint brush
- Hot glue and glue gun
1. Start with a plain tote bag
You can either purchase a simple, plain tote bag, or use a tote bag you already have. For this demo, I used a tote bag that had some stains on it, and covered the stains with my decoration!
2. Add pom-poms
Lay several pom-poms on the front of your tote bag, to represent scoops of ice cream.

3. Make ice cream cones
Pencil in a sketch of cones to fit your ice-cream scoop pom-poms.
Put a piece of cardboard into your tote bag, so any painting you do on the front of the tote bag doesn’t go through to the back.
Remove the pom-poms from your tote bag, and use acrylic fabric paint to complete your cones.
I added darker brown lines to make waffle cones!
4. Attach the pom-poms
Use a hot glue gun to glue the pom-pom scoops of ice-cream into place on the cones. You can make double-scoops by placing a small pom-pom above a larger one.
5. Hide (or purposefully make) drips
Did you happen to notice that when I was painting the cones, my paint dripped in a couple of spots? No problem! I just used other fabric paint to paint in ice-cream drips over my accidental paint drips.
