Let’s do a savvy beauty hack! I’ll show you how to remove lipstick stains from lips! We all know those highly pigmented lip shades like red, bright pink, and burgundy leave a pesky stain on our lips afterward; it actually looks like we’ve fallen over and grazed our lips.

Also, most cleansers don’t eliminate the stain. So, I have found a tried and tested way how to remove lipstick stains, and I’m happy to share it with you, today.

Tools and materials:

  • Olive oil
  • Cotton pads
  • Lipstick
Applying red lipstick to the back of the hand

I found that the best DIY makeup remover is olive oil! That’s right! Not only do people use it for their hair or as a face mask, but another great use for it is to remove makeup, including lipstick stains.

I personally don’t like using olive oil to remove my eye makeup, as it makes my vision blurry, but around the lips? It works like a dream!

So, time for a little test! I put some red lipstick on the back of my hand, and it’s been there for a good 10 minutes.

Using drug store makeup remover

Next, I’m using a drug store makeup remover to try to remove the lipstick and stain completely. Let’s see how it works.

Now, I pour the olive oil on a clean cotton swab and swipe the other half.

As you can see, the right side where I applied the olive oil has come off much easier than the left side. Also, there are still visible red stains on the left side where I used the drugstore product.
