It’s such a great feeling to find a new use for old discarded items and vinyl records are one thing I begun experimenting recently with transforming them into eco jewellery. Although it’s a first attempt at painting these on the whole quite pleased with this pair of earrings I’ve painted from shapes of vinyl.

Cutting vinyl

Once I’m into the record with scissors I cut out two similar shapes that I can sand the edges smoothly with a mini hand held drill with carbide stone attachment.

Next I drill a small hole with the drill attachment at the top end ready to put jump rings and ear wires through.

Next it’s time to paint patterns . I use acrylic paint pens in several colours and have a different colour palette on reverse. I use dots and try follow the natural shape of vinyl .

Painting vinyl

It’s just a first attempt however it’s very easy to paint on these and designs options are endless. Dry in minutes and doesn’t smudge.

I assemble the ear hooks and use jump ring in hole to fix.

The possibilities for shapes and colours are many and could get quite addictive!

I’m so pleased with these quirky upcycled vinyl record earrings 😁

    Thank you

I agree with Delores. I have the same reaction when people go to make things using old books. Just because they are old doesn’t mean they are no good or have value any more

Exactly repurposing gives value and use again to something g that’s ending up in landfill
