Leather earrings are really on-trend right now, thanks to Joanna Gaines. So, watch this leather feather earrings DIY tutorial to learn how to make your own leather teardrop earrings. Have fun getting in on this stylish trend!
Tools and materials:
- 5mm (3/16-inch) wide faux suede
- Feather charms
- Large jump rings
- Small jump rings
- Ear wires
- Leather punch
- Straight chain-nosed pliers
- Bent chain-nosed pliers
- Sharpie
- Ruler
- Scissors
1. Cut the leather
Measure and cut two 4 inches pieces of faux suede. Cut another two pieces of faux suede at 3¼ inches.
2. Punch holes in the leather
On each piece of fabric, use your sharpie to mark a small dot near each end.
With the smallest hole setting on your leather punch, punch holes where you marked the dots. Before you punch the holes, double-check that you’ve got the punch well centered at the end of the fabric.
Use a small pair of scissors to poke out the fabric from the holes and clean up the edges of the holes.
3. Assemble the leather feather earrings
Open the two small jump rings slightly with your pliers and insert them into the ends of the two feather charms. Close up the jump ring so it’s nice and tight.
Now open the large jump rings slightly. Put one long piece and then one short piece onto the jump ring. Then add the feather charm.
Pull up the other two ends of the leather and add those to the jump ring, short piece first and then the long piece. Now you have a circular earring attached to the large jump ring with the feather charm in the middle. Repeat for the second earring.
Close up the jump rings and attach the ear wires to them.
