How to Make the Most Beautiful Paper Clip Earrings Ever
A friend of mine sent me a picture of these cool, circular paper clips and asked if I could turn them into earrings for her, which I did. But then I fell in love, and had to make more! However, being me, I had to add some bling. So I got some beautiful, square glass beads at BeeBee Craft Beads, and added them to the earrings, and I’m literally obsessed. I’m going to make a million pairs of these. In the meantime, follow along with this paper clip earring tutorial for instructions on how to make your first pair.
Tools and materials:
- 2 circular paper clips
- 2 jump rings
- 2 headpins
- 2 shepherd’s hooks
- 2 square glass beads
- Wirecutter
- Chain nose pliers
- Needle nose pliers
Connect
To begin, I opened one of the jump rings and linked the shepherd’s hook onto it.
Close
Then I used my chain nose pliers to close up the jump ring, ensuring I didn’t leave any gaps.
Attach paper clip
Next, I slid my jump ring onto the end of the paper clip and kept sliding it around the circle until there were two layers of the paper clip running through the center of the jump ring.
Prepare bead
I needed to make a loop on the bead to be able to attach it to the paper clip, so I inserted a headpin through the hole in the bead and used my wirecutter to cut the headpin so there was just enough wire to make a small loop.
Make a loop
I used my needle nose pliers to make a loop at the top of the bead. For detailed instructions on how to do this, see the video from 3:12-3:20.
Attach bead
Finally, I hooked the bead onto the paper clip and used my needle nose pliers to close up the loop.
Look at these! These are definitely the easiest earrings you will ever make, and they’re made out of paper clips! I love ‘em, I love ‘em, I love ‘em!
