For all the DIY enthusiasts looking to get their hands on a cool and creative project, then this cork necklace idea is certainly for you! This wine cork necklace tutorial is easy to follow and inexpensive, and the result looks super trendy!
Before we get started, check out the tools and materials section above so you have everything on hand to make this lovely cork necklace DIY.
Tools and materials:
- 1 Wine cork
- 1 Large bead
- Black nail polish
- Pencil
- Electric drill
- Blade
- Gold relief outliner
1. Cut the cork
Using a sharp blade, cut the sides off the cork to create a rectangular shape.
Tip: Be super careful when cutting and do this slowly!
2. Paint the cork
Using black nail polish, paint all the sides of the cork and let it dry. You can also use regular paint for this step.
3. Create a design
With a gold relief outliner, create any design that you desire. I did these cool arrow shapes in the center. You can really show off your creativity in this step; the sky’s the limit!
4. Paint your bead
If your beads don’t match the theme of your wine cork necklace, then go ahead and paint it accordingly. I used the tip of a pencil as a holder, giving me the convenience to paint over every side.
5. Drill a hole in the cork
When everything is completely dry, go ahead and drill a hole on the top part of the cork piece. This is where you’ll feed through your satin necklace thread.
6. Insert the string
Now, insert your thread through the hole and feed the bead through one end of the string. Once that’s done, insert the other end of the string through the bead’s hole.
Tip: You may have to twist the cord to get both ends successfully through the hole.
Pull the bead down so that it sits right on top of the cork piece.

Obviously, this could be done in any color paint, making it even more interesting! One could even glue fabric to the cork! I'm going to make a bunch!!!
