I’m super excited to share with you this all-natural lavender sugar scrub. It is a wonderful skin exfoliant and very easy to make. If, like me, you love homemade beauty products packed full of natural goodness, this DIY is for you.

Tools and materials:

  • Silicone tray
  • ½ cup shea butter
  • ¼ cup coconut oil
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 40 drops lavender extract
  • Bowl
  • Saucepan
  • Fork
Melting the oil and butter

1. Melt the oil and butter

Make a double boiler with your bowl and saucepan underneath with some hot water boiling. Once the water has started heating through it or heat the bowl and you can add in your coconut oil and shea butter.

You could also use shea butter soap instead. Allow the two to melt together, stirring occasionally - this will take about 10 minutes.

Adding lavender

2. Mix the sugar and lavender

In another bowl, combine the sugar with the lavender essential oil. I'm using white sugar as the granules are a little bit smaller so they're more gentle compared to brown sugar which has bigger granules.

Combining the ingredients

3. Combine the ingredients

Then grab your oil mix, pour that into the sugar bowl, and whisk everything together with a fork.

Make sure you don’t leave too much of a gap between the first and second steps or the oil and butter mixture will start to harden up.

Spoon mixture into molds

4. Spoon into molds

Now it's all ready to pour into your silicone molds. The silicone molds are really convenient because you can just pop the cubes out when you need them.

Press down hard on the sugar in the silicon mold to make sure that it sticks firmly together so that when you pop them out later, they hold and don't crumble apart. When done, let the molds set in the fridge for around 30 minutes.

Completed lavender sugar scrub cubes

These sugar scrub cubes are so great for exfoliating with. I find them more gentle than some other conventional exfoliators you may buy. They’re softer than using a salt exfoliator which is a bit more abrasive on the skin.

The lavender also smells amazing, it gives the sugar scrub cubes a nice calming feel. Every time you go to use it, you'll have that beautiful lavender scent which is really soothing and relaxing.
