Makeup hacks can truly make miracles happen. You can contour and create shapes and shadows that completely transform your face.

Makeup can be costly, but a good makeup hack is priceless!

I can’t wait to share this simple trick to use to make your eyes look bigger and brighter. I am blown away by how well this works. Follow along and definitely try this at home. You will not regret it.

Tools and materials:

  • Brown eyeshadow
  • Bone-colored eyeshadow
  • White eye pencil
  • Colored eye pencil that matches your iris
  • Mascara
Applying eyeshadow

1. Create a contrasting background

We need to create a background-look to work off of before we begin.

You basically want to set your eye makeup the way you like wearing it normally. I am showing you a very basic, light look to work with but you can makeup your look however you like.

Applying eyeshadow

Start by warming up your lids with a brown eyeshadow in the corners of your eyelids. Blend softly inwards.

When you’re finished, add a pop of highlight right in the center of the eyelid.

To do this, use a bone-colored eyeshadow. Place it gently on the center of the lid and blend slightly out.

This will set a gorgeous contrasting background for what we’re going to be doing next.

Applying eyeliner

2. Where the magic happens

Here is the part that makes this hack work!

You’re going to use eyeliner pencil to create a reflection of the eyeball onto the lower lid. It might sound kind of wild, but you will not believe how well this works.

Use a white eyeliner pencil in the inner thirds of your lower water line.

Draw from the outer corner of your waterline until you get to where your iris begins.

Do the same on the inner corner, stopping by the iris.

You’re basically using the white eyeliner to create the illusion that the white part of your eye is extending into your waterline.

Applying eyeliner

Once you have the white drawn in, find an eye pencil that closely matches the color of your iris.

Use this color to draw a line right in the center of the water line between the two white sections, just under the iris.

This helps create the illusion that the iris is extended to the bottom of your waterline.

Curling lashes

3. Finishing touches

Don’t forget to finish up the rest of your new eye look with some mascara.

Apply the mascara and use a curler to curl your lashes and make them look long and luxurious.

Use your usual favorite makeup looks to finish up the rest of your face. You can add some color to your cheeks and lips for a fully made-up face.

This makeup hack might be the most impactful optical illusion I have ever seen. Who wouldn’t want bigger, brighter eyes? It’s so amazing how well this trick works.
