Applying concealer

1. Concealer first

If you want to use foundation and concealer, but you want a natural look with less coverage, then use your concealer before your foundation.

Apply concealer anywhere you need to even out your skin tone.

Blending concealer

Blend out the concealer with your fingertip.

Blending foundation

Now you can dot on minimal foundation and blend it in with a damp makeup sponge.

2. Conceal acne or pimples

Apply thick concealer with a small makeup brush to hide acne and pimples.

Blending concealer

Let the concealer sit on your skin for about 30 seconds, and then blend it out with your finger or a sponge.

Then you can finish up with your foundation.

Fixing foundation color

3. Fix your foundation color

If your foundation isn’t a good match to your skin color, mix it with some darker or lighter concealer to get that match.

4. Handling hyperpigmentation

If you have dark circles under your eyes or dark spots on your face (called hyperpigmentation), you can use your concealer to spot-correct, and get a very natural finish.

Blending concealer

Blend it out with your fingers and then use a large makeup brush to pull everything together and smooth out any harsh edges.

Making your own blush

5. Make your own blush

If you’ve run out of blush, mix a little lipstick with your concealer to make your own blush.

Blending in DIY blush

Blend it out with a large makeup brush for a gorgeous, flushed look.

6. Use concealer as a color-corrector

You can use concealer that is darker than your skin tone as a color-corrector.

Dab on concealer that’s two shaded darker than your skin tone, over any areas that need color-correcting.

Applying foundation

Apply foundation, with a large makeup brush, over your color-correcting concealer.

Concealer under the eyes

7. Blend your concealer the right way

After you have applied concealer, do not blend it immediately.

If you do, your brush or sponge will absorb the creamy concealer and give you less coverage.

Instead, let the concealer sit on your skin for about 30 to 45 seconds, until it’s just a little tacky, and then blend it out.

Applying concealer

8. Avoid creasing

If your concealer creases in the fine lines of your skin, then simply avoid applying it to those areas.

Instead, focus on the areas where your dark circles are the darkest. That is usually the inner and outer corners of your eyes.

Blending concealer

Again, wait for the concealer to semi-dry before blending.

Lining lips

9. Use concealer on your lips

You can use concealer to create beautiful ombre lips.

Start by lining your lips with a lip pencil.

Applying concealer to lips

Then blend a tiny amount of concealer right in the center of your lips, quickly blending it out with your finger.

Applying lip gloss

Then, just apply transparent gloss to your lips for a gorgeous, natural-looking ombre lip.

Concealer as an eraser

10. Concealer as an eraser

For both lipstick and eyeliner, if you haven’t applied it perfectly, take some concealer, with a concealer brush, and clean up any mistakes.

That will give you clean, crisp lines, even if you’re not a makeup pro.
