Here’s why you should never overlook thrift store jewelry again.

You might not love the design of the necklaces or bracelets you see at the thrift store, but look closely at the materials that were used to make them.

You may be able to use that jewelry to create a fun and modern phone-holding bracelet with some retro throw-back vibes.

Tools and materials:

  • Thrift store beaded jewelry
  • Cord
  • Scissors
Thrifting materials

1. Thrift

Go to your local thrift store and look for necklaces with beads that you like.

Choose more than one. Mixing and matching will give you more unique and interesting results.

Cutting string

2. Take it apart

Cut the thread of the necklaces and release the beads. Now you can come up with a new design that fits your style.

Take your time trying different designs until you settle on one you love.

Restringing

3. Restring

Take some string cord and cut it so it’s double the size of a bracelet.

String together the beads in the design you like and leave about two inches of cord beadles.

Attaching to phone

4. Attach it to your phone

Use the extra couple of inches of cord to loop it through your phone case to secure it.

Now you have a clutch-like bracelet to hold your phone.

I love this hack. Not only is it a super fun DIY project, it is such a great way to securely carry your phone around.
