Plaid Coat

There’s not many times I’ll get to actually wear a coat. The occasional mornings (if I remember) and maybe one or two days throughout the year. But overall, I have no use for this plaid coat other than, it’s cute. Why even show it then right? Because even though I don’t live in a cold place, I’d like to live out my cold outfit dreams. Now that may mean sweating through my outfit in a matter of minutes, but at least I’ll be able to look back at the photos and smile. (And maybe even laugh at myself for wanting to get pictures so badly).

When to Buy Vs When to Rent

Since I’ve started renting clothes from Nuuly and Rent the Runway I have saved myself so much money. I no longer feel like I have to buy trendy pieces or even seasonal pieces. It’s easy enough to rent both trendy items and items I know I’ll only wear once or twice, like this plaid coat. As much as I love wearing it, it’s just not worth buying when I live in Florida. Renting it also great for special occasions, like weddings, galas, or other celebrations. So if you’ve ever considered renting before, this is your sign!

Styling a Plaid Overcoat

To make this plaid coat work a little more in my favor, I decided not to go overboard on the layers. A simple knit tank dress and some booties are already a great look for Florida fall. But by adding the plaid coat and a beret I made it more friendly to places that actually enjoy seasons. If you’re looking for some extra layers in the cold you could easily pull a sweater over the dress and pull on some over the knee boots to keep your legs warm. I decided to just wear the coat for some pictures before enjoying some coffee on a cooler morning.
