Simple and Easy: DIY Tie-Dye Shoes

These easy tie-dye shoes are really simple to do and such an awesome way to make use of those old white shoes you have lying around. I have found that my white shoes tend to go yellow after a while, so having a way to repurpose them is awesome! If you love this idea, be sure to check out my shop for more amazing tie-dye ideas.
Tools and materials:
- Pair of white canvas shoes
- Tie-dye colors
Dampen your shoes
The first thing I did was dampen my shoes. I just ran them under the sink and let them sit for a few minutes. Then, I took them out and let them dry for a few minutes. The reason for this is that while you want the shoes wet, you don’t want them dripping wet. If your shoes are too wet the color will look watered down.
Go crazy with color
I placed a wire rack in my sink - this keeps the color from gathering at the bottom - and got creative. There wasn’t any real rhyme or reason to my dying, I just went ahead and spilled on some random splotches. Just make sure all the white areas are covered!
Don’t try and keep the colors from overlapping - it’s the best part! The colors mixing create new colors. Let your yellow, pink, and blue become shades of green, purple, and orange!
Finish them up
Find a nice sunny spot (if you can) and let your shoes dry. I left mine out overnight. Then, I popped them in the washing machine the next morning to rinse them off.
I’m really happy with how they turned out! It’s so easy to learn how to tie-dye shoes and so fun to get creative with it.
