DIY cuticle oil

First up, you will need some good cuticle oil. You can buy some or make it yourself, which is what I have done. To make it, I just mixed cuticle oil with some Vitamin E, and that is what I apply to my nails.

Keeping cuticles moisturized

1. Keep your nails moisturized

My first tip is to keep your cuticles moisturized at all times, and by that, I mean make sure to apply it at least once a day. I recommend keeping your cuticle oil somewhere close to you so that it’s to hand when you need it.

2. Massage it in

When applying it, massage it in; doing this will help your nails to grow better as nails grow best when they are moisturized.

3. Don’t pick at your nails

The next tip is not to peel your nails. Don't try to remove your nail polish with your fingers and things like that.

4. Don’t buff your nails

Some people like to buff their nails, but I have to say that this is a big no-no because if your nails are peeling and you are just removing that top layer, you're weakening your nails as you buff them.

Filing nails in one direction

5. File in one direction

The next pointer is when you file to go in one direction.

Applying cuticle oil all over nails

6. Apply cuticle oil

The most important tip of them all is to apply cuticle oil all over your nails. First, remove your nail polish, obviously, and then apply it over your nails and also on the back of them at the top. Doing this will make your nails moisturized, make the surface of your nails smoother, and it will actually give your nails more flexibility, so this is the most important tip.

How to stop nails peeling

Do this throughout the week or every day, depending on how much you wear your nail polish. I usually do this when I remove all of my nail polish, and then I have it on for at least 20 minutes. When the time has passed, I just wash my hands, apply my base coat, paint my nails, or do nail art as usual. Then, once all the polish is dry, I apply the cuticle oil once again.
