Halloween is approaching and I like to get into the spooky feel of it because that’s what it’s really about right? This year I’ll be dressing up as a vampire which is the perfect spooky costume that you can still make a little bit sexy at the same time.

In this tutorial, I’m going to be showing you some vampy makeup and how to achieve a dramatic, dark-eye look. I’ll be showing you pictures for every step of the process so you’ll know exactly what to do. Let’s get started!

Tools and materials:

  • Eyebrow pencil
  • Primer
  • Eyeshadow
  • Eyeliner
  • False lashes
  • Lipstick
Applying light purple to the crease

1. Apply light purple to the crease

Start by doing your eyebrows and priming your eyes. Then take a light purple shade of eyeshadow and apply it to the crease of your eyelids creating a winged shape at your outer V.

Deepening the purple eyeshadow

2. Deepen the purple

Once you’ve got that shape mapped out on your eyelid, go in with a darker shade of purple over the shape you made. Don’t take the darker shade right to the edges though as we want to create a really nice gradient effect between the different shades.

Applying black eyeshadow

3. Mix black with the purple

When you’ve got the color built up enough, go in with a black shade over the top.

4. Intensify the purple

Then add some more purple on top of that so that the black isn’t too intense and to create a halo eye. We’re not going for a full-on halo eye though as I just created this effect on my lid and didn’t bring it up to my crease.

5. Add shimmer

Next, take a shimmery gray granite shade, put some on your finger and then pop that right in the center of the lid.

6. Apply eyeshadow under eyes

The next step is the under-eye makeup. Start by brushing your original, light shade of purple on your lower lashline with a flat brush. Then continue with the darker shades of purple. Proceed to add some eyeliner, I went with some ink eyeliner but you can go for a pencil if you prefer.

Drawing a wing with liquid eyeliner

7. Wing out eyeliner

At the sides, you want to wing the eyeliner, following the shape of the eyeshadow.

8. Finishing touches

For a dramatic look, I also drew a thick line on my eyelids and brought that right into the inner corner. Once done, add some false lashes. The final step is to add some purple lipstick and you’re finished!

Here is the final look and I am over the moon. The dark, smoky eyes are perfect for my vampire Halloween look. I love how the makeup is the darkest on my lids and then gets lighter as it goes up towards my crease and browbone. The purple lipstick also matches perfectly with the eye makeup for a coordinated look.
