Judi Dench-inspired Tutorial: Soft Glam Makeup Look
In this makeup tutorial for women over 50, we’re doing a soft glam makeup look reminiscent of Judi Dench’s makeup look from the 2014 BAFTAs.
The products I'm using today are from the Look Fabulous Forever range, made specifically for mature skin. However, you can achieve the same results with any brand of product.
Tools and materials:
- Powder eyeshadow
- Cream eyeshadow
- Makeup brushes
- Cotton bud
- Mascara
- Blush
- Highlighter
- Lip liner
- Lipstick
- Lip gloss
Here is the look we’re going for. I’ve already done my skincare and prepped my skin with the makeup basics—face primer, foundation, eye primer, concealer, bronzer, and translucent powder.
I’ve also filled in my brows. With that already done, let’s jump into the look.
1. Apply powder blue eyeshadow to the lid and inner corner
Lightly cover the eyelid with powder blue eyeshadow, then take the eyeshadow to the outside of the eyelid near the inner corner.
2. Apply dusky pink eyeshadow above the socket
Starting from the socket line, apply dusky pink eyeshadow up to the eyebrow.
3. Blend
Use a blending brush to blend the two eyeshadows together.
4. Apply cream shadow under your brow
Use your finger to sweep a little bit of a cream eyeshadow underneath your brow
5. Line the upper and lower lash lines
With a wedge brush, push midnight blue eyeshadow against the base of your top eyelashes.
For the bottom lashes, only align them about ⅓ of the way along the lash line.
6. Apply mascara
Apply waterproof black mascara to your top and bottom lashes.
7. Clean your waterline
Use a cotton bud to catch any particles of eyeshadow in your waterline.
8. Apply blush in a sweeping motion
Apply a rosy pink blush with your fingers. Drag it from the cheekbone to the corner of the eye socket. Blend it in with a blush brush.
9. Apply highlighter to the undereye and between the brows
Dot a highlighter underneath the eye, and tap it in with your finger.
Swipe the highlighter between the brows and blend it in with your finger.
Fan it out so it’s not concentrated at the center and spreads to your forehead.
Finally, apply the highlighter to the tip of your nose.
10. Apply lip liner and lipstick
Apply a soft fig lip liner, and fill the lips with pale pink lipstick.
Blot with a tissue.
11. Apply lip gloss
Finish the lip look with lip gloss.
