Plaid of Summer

I've never really liked gingham patterns. They felt frilly or preppy... two words I wouldn't use to describe my style. But then a friend mentioned that she's always thought of gingham as the "plaid of summer" and that completely changed my perspective. I mean, I love plaid in the fall and winter. Why limit myself to just those two seasons? So here we go with my first gingham styling session. If you're like me and a bit apprehensive about the pattern, start with basic black and white. It's classic, widely available, and works with all body types. I was also able to find a gingham sundress that was made into another hot trend, tiered layers, and I love it! I hope you do, too!

Just a girl and her dress, minimally styled with sandals and sunnies.

Level up by adding a hat.

One of my favorite styling tips is to layer a tee, sweater, button down, or jacket on top. Gives any dress a whole new look!

And you can't talk about spring and summer styling without talking about straw. Hats, belts, earrings... all the rage.

I hope you enjoyed this gingham exercise. You can shop this look HERE.

Or if you like the idea of gingham but this dress style isn't for you, then I've found several more options for you to take a look at HERE.

Pease love & hugs,

Kelli
