How do we draw others’ attention to our eyes? There really is a science to making your eyes POP! Follow along with a few tips to best accentuate your eyes.

Much of this method involves maximizing the contrast in your eyes. In other words, you want the whites of your eyes to stand out against the irises.

Tools and materials:

  • Color wheel
  • Eyeshadow palette
Eye color

1. Refer to the color wheel

Highlighting your eyes is all about the color wheel. Start by finding your eye color on the color wheel.

Accentuate your eye color by using the opposite color of eye makeup.

For example, if you have deep green eyes, eyeshadow in shades of pink and red will compliment your eye color.

Applying eyeshadow

Ladies with brown eyes actually have it the easiest. They can pull off most any shade.

Even still, the best shades of eye makeup for brown eyes are blue colors.

2. Accentuate the outer corners

Once you’ve found your best shades, be sure to apply some (in a medium/transitional shade) of the eye makeup at the outer corners of your eyes.

This will help draw attention to your eyes plus give the illusion of a flattering face lift.

3. Bring the same color down to your bottom lash line

Don’t forget to sweep the same medium shade eyeshadow that you used in the corners under your lower lash lines.

This will add a lot of focus and drama to your face without overlining and closing the eyes.

4. Add a bright pop in the inner corners

Dab a brighter shade of eyeshadow at the inner corners of your eyes.

This way, you are darkening and deepening the outer corners while brightening the inner corners.

Together the result is a lifted eye with a beautiful ombre effect.
