Removing pocket

1. Remove pocket

Seam rip the front pocket off of one of your shirts.

Using a ruler, mark a vertical line down the front, a couple of inches away from the buttons.

Cutting

3. Cut along line

Use a rotary cutter to cut along the line you have marked.

Cutting

4. Repeat

Repeat on the other side. You will be left with just the center collar section.

Proceed to cut strips of fabric from the other button-downs, and you will be left with something like this.

Some of the strips can include fabric from more than one shirt, if you like.

Sewing strips

6. Sew strips

Pin all the strips together and then sew where you have pinned.

Cutting

7. Add sleeves

Finish up by sewing on the sleeves.

Creating the designer look for less than $15

Here is the finished look, and I made a tube top to match. I left threads hanging down at the bottom of the shirt to give it a rugged look.
