In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how to crochet a one-shoulder top that is perfect for the summer.

I’ll be walking you through step by step, making it very easy to follow along. Let’s get started!

Tools and materials:

  • Crochet hook
  • Yarn
  • Scissors
  • Tape measure
  • Bobby pins
Making a chain

1. Make a chain

Start by making a chain with 200 stitches.

Double crocheting

2. Double crochet

Next, double crochet across.

Tying ends

3. Tie ends together

Cut the ends, tie them together, and set the chain aside.

Measuring waist

4. Measure waist

Next, measure your waist circumference. My waist measured 26 inches (66cm).

Crocheting

5. Crochet a chain

Then crochet a chain to the length of your waist measurement.

Crocheting

6. Double crochet

Proceed to double-crochet until the chain covers your bust.

Marking a quarter

7. Mark a quarter of the rectangle

Next, fold your crochet rectangle and mark a quarter of the length. Insert bobby pins to mark that point.

Crocheting

8. Crochet the quarter

Now crochet in only this quarter of a rectangle area.

On each end, double-crochet two together to decrease the width.

Crocheting

It creates a triangular shape.

Attaching piece

9. Attach first piece

Grab the first chain that you crocheted. Mark the center of each piece and line it up.

Attaching piece

Use a slip stitch to connect a few inches.

Connecting sides

10. Connect sides

Fold the entire thing in half and then connect the sides.

Connecting strap

11. Connect strap

The final step is to connect the strap.

Here is the finished look.

I love the asymmetrical, one-shoulder appearance, as well as the chain going under the main part of the top and tied at the side in a bow.

I paid great attention to detail when crocheting this top which has given me a very neat and clean finish.
