If you don’t take care of your glasses, they’ll always be dirty, and they’ll get scratched fast. But those cases from the stores are ugly and bulky, who’d want that?

Well, you don’t need to use those cases, you can just make your own stylish sunglass or eyeglass case!

This brief tutorial will show you how to sew a neat holder for your glasses in less than half an hour. Say goodbye to dirty or scratched glasses and say hello to a fashionable alternative to plastic cases!

Cut the fabrics

Download the free eyeglass case pattern and print it out. Use the pattern as a guide to cut out a piece from the interfacing and a piece from the main fabric. The right side of the main fabric should be facing up while you cut, while the bumpy side of the interfacing should be facing down.

Then flip the pattern over and cut out one piece from the lining fabric.

Stack the fabrics

Set the main fabric over the interfacing and align the edges. Keep the bumpy side of the interfacing down and the right side of the main fabric up. Fuse them together with your iron.

Set the lining over the two joined pieces, with its right side down. Align the edges and pin the layers together.

Start sewing the case

Stitch the curved edge. Open up the lining flap and press the seam allowance. Understitch the lining. Bring back the lining to its position.

Stitch an inch on the top of the long edge. Lift the lining flap and fold the case in half lengthwise. You will get an arrow-like shape.

Sew around the whole thing but leave a small opening on the lining.

Finish the glasses case

Clip the corners and turn the case inside-out. Push out the corners with something pointy.

Sew the opening shut. Push the lining into the main body and your case will be ready for action!
