How to Make Shaving Cream
Have you ever thought about learning to make your own shaving cream? Whether you want to make this DIY shaving cream for Dad or to use it yourself, you won’t believe how easy it is. And, it smells absolutely amazing!
How long this shaving cream lasts will really depend on how much you use when you shaving. You will use more shaving your legs than you will shaving your face.
If you like scented shaving cream, you can add your favorite essential oil to it when you make it. I really like the way that lavender and rose smell so I often use those. But, feel free to use whatever your favorites are. Here are some ideas for essential oil blends you might like.
It is always best to shaving with hot water because it opens up your pores. When your pores are open, the razor will be able to cut the hair follicle closer to the skin
This cream doesn’t really lather when you put it on your face. But, because you whip it when you make it, it does have the feel and appearance of lather.
- ⅓ cup shea butter
- ⅓ cup coconut oil
- 2 tablespoons apricot kernel oil or grapeseed oil
- 1 tablespoon arrowroot powder
- 15 drops Essential oils
You will need to melt the oils together in the microwave. Heat at 30-second intervals stirring in between each.
Add the carrier oils.
Place in the fridge for 30 minutes.
Then whip them lightly with a hand beater.
Add the dry ingredients to help it hold its shape.
Add essential oils if desired.
Mix until light and fluffy.
Use it as you would any shaving cream.
