5 Winter Hats That Aren’t Beanies

When the weather starts to turn cold, one of the best ways to stay warm is by donning a hat. But somehow, the beanie is the hat of choice I see most people turn to. I have to say, unless I’m out hiking and need something practical, I’m not a fan of the beanie. It makes my head look flat and has no personality.

If you’re going for style, there are many more fashionable alternatives to keep you warm and help you look polished and put together. Here are some options for winter hats that aren’t beanies.

A Faux Fur Hat

Big and furry, this Cossack-style hat will definitely keep your head warm, especially if you’re planning to be somewhere outdoors. It might be a little over the top for indoor wear, but it’s warm and more stylish than a beanie.  Shop faux fur hats.

A Velvet Hat

A velvet hat brings a little bit of formality and charming vintage style to your outfit. It can really dress things up when you’re out for an evening or going to a special event. The lush velvet thickness will keep your head warm and add interest to your look.  Shop velvet hats.

A Wool Hat

This wool cloche-style hat looks stylish and polished while being understated enough for day wear. Top off a dressy outfit or wear it casual. And wool is always a good choice for winter warmth.  Shop wool cloche hats.

A Beret

Long associated with those ever-stylish Parisians, the beret is a classic. Often made from wool or felt, they keep your head warm and give your outfit a little extra “Je ne sais quoi.” They are so simple and easy to wear, pretty much anybody can pull one off.  Shop berets.

A Fuzzy Hat

Bucket hats are everywhere these days. This retro throw-back style has been modernized in hundreds of different materials. Usually seen as a summer hat to keep the glare from your eyes, get one in a fuzzy material, and you have a playful winter hat. I love them because you can flip up the brim and style them in different ways.  Shop fuzzy bucket hats.

Now that you have some new options for winter hats that aren’t beanies, which one will you try first?
