This Sexy Black Glitter Makeup Look is Perfect for Holiday Parties
Nothing says festive like glitter! This glam black glitter makeup is perfect for all your holiday parties, especially New Year’s Eve. This look can be done with silver glitter or black glitter. Here’s how to do sparkly eye makeup for this festive season!
Tools and materials:
- Eyelid primer
- Dark eyeshadow palette
- Glitter eyeshadow
- Liquid eyeliner - black
- Pencil eyeliner - black
- Mascara
- False lashes
- Brow pencil
- Foundation
- Concealer
- Bronzer
- Pink blush
- Loose translucent powder
- Lip liner
- Lipstick
- Brushes: primer brush, crease brush, eyeshadow brush, blending brush, bronzer brush, blush brush, small brush
- Egg-shaped sponge
- Makeup wipes
1. Prep the face
Start with a clean, bare face. Apply eyeshadow primer with a brush to the upper eyelids. Blend the primer on the lid.
2. Apply eyeshadow
Use a burgundy eyeshadow in the crease on the upper eyelid.
Don’t worry about the messiness - you need to blend, blend, blend! The most important thing with a smoky eye is to blend.
Use a gray shadow in the same area. You can use the same brush. No one likes the black eye look, so start lightly and you can always add more.
3. Apply glitter
Apply glitter adhesive. Some brands come with this. Dab a bit on each eyelid and gently spread it. Take a small brush and wipe with a makeup wipe to moisten the brush.
Then, dip the brush into the glitter. This keeps the glitter confined to the brush and not spreading everywhere.
Dab the glitter gently because a little goes a long way.
4. Apply eyeliner
Apply eyeliner to the rims of the eye. Tightline or use the liner pencil on the upper inner pink rim.
Then, put the liner on the waterline on the lower rim.
Use a small stiff brush and dip into the gray shadow. Make short quick strokes to the lower lid on the outside at the lash line to add depth and smokiness.
Do a very thin layer, all the way to the inner eye.
5. Fill in brows
Fill in the hairs on the eyebrows. Use short feathery strokes to really create a full and dramatic brow.
6. False lashes & mascara
Apply a single coat of mascara to the upper eyelashes.
Then, apply false eyelashes with lash glue and tweezers.
7. Apply foundation & concealer
While the glue is drying, apply foundation. Place a few dots of foundation on your face: each cheek, forehead, chin, and nose. Blend the foundation with an egg-shaped sponge.
Apply the concealer directly under each eye in an upside-down triangle. Blend.
8. Set makeup
Dip your egg shaped sponge into the loose translucent powder and gently apply to the concealer to set it.
9. Apply bronzer & blush
Use a bronzer brush and apply bronzer to the hollows of your cheeks, along your jawline, and temples.
Add a pop of rosy pink to your cheeks by applying a pink blush to the tops of your cheekbones.
10. Finishing touches
Once the glue has dried and your face is mostly done, draw a cat eye or winged eyeliner on your upper lids.
For a really dramatic look, you could wear a red lip. I prefer a nude lip with this black glitter makeup look, as a bold lip can be too much with a smokey eye.
11. Lipstick & lip liner
Apply lip liner to the outer edges of your mouth and then fill in with a complementary tone of lipstick.
