Simple Makeup Tutorial: How Blush Placement Affects Your Face Shape
Today, I'm going to show you how blush placement can change your look completely. We’ll be taking a look at blush placement for different face shapes so you can get an idea of what different options are out there.
For today's look, I'm going to use a cream blush. It doesn't really matter whether you use a powder blush or a cream blush or which color blush you choose. We’re just focussing on the technique.
To apply cream blushes, I either like to use my finger or a brush that is duo fiber. If I'm going to use a brush, I prefer to use something that is very small so that I can achieve more precision. I personally find big brushes intended for blush too big to work with.

1. Blush on the apples of the cheeks
First, I’m going to show you what it looks like when we apply blush on the apples of the cheeks.
This can make your face look a little bit more youthful and cute but also rounded. If you have a round face, I would suggest that you don't use this method as it can make your face even rounder than it already is.
To know where to apply the brush, I make a smiling face and that will show me where my cheekbones are.
Apply the blush from the inner part of your cheeks, close to the nose, tap to apply, and start with less product.
Use fingers to build up opacity, tap to apply the blush, and use the brush to blend out the edges.
This look is cute and gives you a doll-like appearance. But, as I said, it can accentuate the roundness of your face instead of lifting your face.
2. Blush on the upper part of the cheeks
For the next look, I’m going to apply the brush in the high points of the cheeks, kind of like a highlighter.
I’m going to stop two fingers away from my nose as I don't want to go anywhere near.
I want to keep it very high and go towards my temple. Apply the blush from the side of your face and keep it away from the nose.
Tap to apply and start with less product. As before, blend the edges using a brush or a beauty sponge.
This is a sexy look that elongates the face shape and creates a foxy effect.
Blush placement for face shape
You can see the first technique on the left side, which has more of a cute effect, and the second technique on the right side, which lifts and elongates my face more.
Which style you go for will depend on the shape of your face and the effect that you’re trying to create.

So interesting. I think that the blush on the apples looks better, but maybe because you’re smiling in that picture. Going to try difficult placement now!
