4 Easy, Braided Updos to Keep Your Hair Out of Your Face This Summer
The braided updo is a feminine and casual take on the classic updo. It’s perfect for getting hair out of your face without settling for a basic ponytail, and it’s cuter, too.
In this tutorial, I’m going to show you four braided updo hairstyles you can wear during the hottest of summer days. Let’s get started!
Tools and materials:
- Hair ties
- Bobby pins
Updo 1:
1. Braid a section
Take a section of hair from the top of your head, and loosely braid it down. Don’t braid it too tight or against your scalp. Tie it off with a hair tie and leave it for now.
2. Create a bun
Gather the rest of your hair behind your head, and tie off only the top of it into a single bun. Use your fingers to tug at the bun to loosen it from the hair tie and thicken it out.
3. Wrap the remaining hair around the bun
First, twist the remaining tail of your hair around itself.
Then, twist it around the bun. Secure by tucking the ends into the hair tie or by using a bobby pin.
4. Wrap and secure the braid
Finally, take the braid from step one and wrap it around your head to the bun. Bobby pin in place.
Here’s the finished look. This was such an easy braided updo!
Updo 2:
1. Section
Separate your hair down the middle into two sections.
2. Tie into a ponytail
Tie up both sections into ponytails.
3. Braid
Braid each ponytail with a simple three-strand braid, and tie off with a hair tie.
4. Create loops with the braid
Now, take the braid and flip it up, tucking the ends underneath the hair ties you used to originally create a ponytail. This should create two loops.
5. Push one loop through the other
Take one braid loop and push it through the other loop. Use bobby pins to secure it to your head.
Here’s the finished look! This is one of my favorite updo braided hairstyles!
Updo 3:
1. Braid down
Gather your hair behind your head, and three-strand braid down. Secure with a hair tie.
2. Roll the braid into a bun
Roll the braid up until it reaches the top of the braid and your head and forms a little bun. Secure it in place with bobby pins.
Here’s the finished look! If you learn how to do a braided updo, make it this one!
Updo 4:
1. Braid
Gather your hair behind your head, braid it down, and secure it with a hair tie.
2. Tug at the braid
Tug and pull at the braid so it’s thicker and a bit messier.
3. Wrap the braid into a bun
Flip the braid up and wrap it around itself into a bun. Secure with bobby pins.
Here’s the finished look!
