Glam Smokey Brown Eye Makeup Tutorial
Today, I am creating my version of the latte makeup trend with this triple-shot espresso-inspired makeup tutorial!
I love this smokey brown eye makeup for an evening out on the town.
Tools and materials:
- SPF balm
- 2-in-1 foundation/concealer
- Makeup sponge
- Black eyeliner
- Cream eyeshadow sticks in maroon, deep brown and black
- Eyeliner sharpener
- Matte black eyeshadow
- Black mascara
- False lashes
- Tweezers
- Lash glue
- Bronze blush
- Assorted makeup brushes
- Concealer
- Finishing powder
- Brown lipstick
- Cream blush
1. Apply your base
First I applied SPF balm to my skin. Follow your sun protection with a 2-in-1 foundation/concealer.
Blend it with a makeup sponge.
2. Apply eyeliner
Line your lower waterline with black eyeliner for an intense look.
Close your eyes partially and line the upper waterline. Repeat on your other eye.
3. Apply your “first shot”: maroon
Cover most of your mobile lid with a maroon-brown shade of eyeshadow.
Blend out the top with a brush.
Transfer some of the color from the lid to the crease area.
Repeat on your other eyelid.
4. Apply the maroon shade under your lower lash line
Next, apply some maroon under your lower lashes.
Buff it out with the brush.
Connect this with the outer corner of the top lid to completely frame the eye. Repeat for your other eye.
5. Add your “2nd shot”: deep brown
To amp up the smokey look, add a deep brown color, starting at the upper lash line.
Color in the skin until the point where your eye naturally creases (not as high as the socket).
Then use your brush to pull the color up to the socket, blending it into the maroon.
Work in thin layers. Continue to brush in gentle, sweeping motions until there are no more seams.
After a quick mirror check, I’ve decided to take this color higher.
Apply another thin layer, a bit higher up and blend the color downward, into the lid.
Pull the color out if it suits your eye shape, or keep it rounded.
Then blend it out. This is a great look for hooded eyes because the colors are applied to the entire lid.
6. Apply the deep brown below the lower lashes
Take this color below the lower lashes, slightly closer to the roots so that you can blend it down into the transitional, maroon shade
Blend with the brush, and like before, be sure to connect this with the outer corner of the upper lid.
7. Apply a “3rd shot”: black
Sharpen the point of your black shade so that you can keep it super close to your lash line.
No need to blend it out too much, just blur the line with a small brush. Repeat on your other eye.
8. Apply matte black eyeshadow
With a small brush, tap some matte black eyeshadow over the black line you just applied.
Then blend it slightly into the browns.
9. Apply black mascara
Apply a coat of mascara to your top and bottom lashes.
Repeat for your other eye. You can stop your brown eye makeup here or continue with false lashes.
10. Apply false lashes
11. Add warmth to your face
To continue the warmth from the eyes, apply a bronze shade of blush at the perimeter of your forehead.
Then apply some to your upper cheekbones and blend with a blush or foundation brush.
12. Add light to the center of your face
Apply a few spots of concealer at the top of the cheekbones, inner corners of the eyes and a tiny bit at your smile line.
Use a brush and lift the color at the outer areas.
Blend everything for a brightening effect by swiping the brush and then patting it.
This is also your chance to hide any of the eye color if you felt that you took it too low. If not, then just let it meet the eye color.
13. Apply finishing powder
Apply finishing powder with a makeup sponge, focusing mainly at the center of the face to eliminate any shine. It will also give a smooth finish to the skin.
14. Apply lipstick
Apply lipstick in a brown shade to compliment the brown eye makeup.
15. Apply blush
To avoid over-application, put some cream blush on your hand. Then pick it up with a brush to apply it to your cheekbones.
Since you have the dramatic eyeshadow, apply the blush gradually. You decide how much color you want.
Here is the final result of my triple shot espresso look:
