What to Pack for a Cruise

9 Materials

Cruises are always a popular summer vacation option. It’s particularly popular to cruise in the Bahamas and Caribbean. If you’ve never cruised before, use this as a guide to help you start your packing list. If you’re a veteran cruiser, double check these items are on your list for the best cruise yet!

Casual Outfits for Sailing & In Port

For days at sea, opt for casual outfits. I brought my favorite denim shorts and some easy tops and blouses to pair them with. A crop top with a button up on top and shorts is easy and still chic. Casual outfits are also great for your days in port. We’ll be exploring Curaçao and Aruba for our days in port. There will be a lot of walking to do, so be sure to pack some sneakers to go along with your casual outfits on your cruise.

Swimsuits & Rash Guards

I’ve recently invested in my first rash guard and let me tell you, I’m hooked. Life is so much easier when you only have to apply sunscreen to your legs. And if you don’t think there’s cute rash guards out there, think again. Even having one to put on over a bikini later in the day is a life saver. It’s a miracle if I end even a single beach day without sunburn. With the help of my rash guard, I managed to avoid a sunburn the entire trip.

Dress to Impress

Most cruises will have a minimum of one “fancy” night during your time. This is the time to pull out all the dresses you’ve been looking for an excuse to wear. Maybe it’s an old bridesmaids dress, or perhaps a dress that is too dressy for the office. I’m a dress girl through and through, so these nights are always my favorite. I get to wear the dresses that I’d normally reserve for a wedding.

Accessories to Not Forget

Most importantly, you do not want to skimp on accessories when you’re cruising. Some of the most vital accessories include a hat, sunglasses, and a claw clip. Now, I haven’t worn a claw clip since probably, the 8th grade. But they are making a comeback and somehow everyone’s hair looks way cuter now than when I was using one. Don’t ask me how. There are so many elegant and fun claw clips, that you can tailor them to almost any outfit, from swimsuits, to ball gowns.

A simple ball cap or sunhat is also important to keep the sun off your head while exploring new places and islands. Even if you’re only outside for an hour, your head will thank you for wearing a hat. Same goes for sunglasses. One thing my eye doctor always tells me, is wear sunglasses when you’re outside. Even if it’s cloudy.
