Easy Hack for Turning Your Dress Into a Skirt
When you’re traveling, it’s a great space-saver to have clothes you can wear in different ways. Even if you’re not, creating new looks from old clothes gives your wardrobe a lift.
See how I turn a bodycon dress into a skirt using just a piece of elastic around my waist.
Tools and materials:
- Bodycon slip dress
- 1 inch wide elastic
- Safety pin
1. The dress
You’ll need a stretch slip dress for this look, well fitting and with spaghetti straps.
2. Turn it
Turn the dress inside out and hold it upside down, by the hem.
3. Step in
Step into the dress, putting your legs through the armholes.
4. Pull up
Pull the dress all the way up, until the armholes are at your hip level.
Smooth the lower half of the dress out over your underwear.
5. Elastic
Pin a piece of elastic around your waist, over the dress.
Alternatively, you could overlap and sew the ends of the elastic before pulling it up over your hips.
6. Fold down
Fold the hem of your dress down over the elastic and pull it down until it’s smooth.
Hack for turning your dress into a skirt
Now you have a stylish pencil skirt that fits you perfectly and no way for anyone to tell that it’s really a dress.
Smooth underwear or Spanx are best under this look!
