Super Glam Cleopatra Halloween Makeup Tutorial
In this tutorial, I will show you how to create a gorgeous Cleopatra Halloween makeup look.
I took inspiration from the classic colors of the pharaohs which were predominantly golds and blues. Let’s get started!
Tools and materials:
- Synthetic flat shadow brush
- Synthetic bristle brush
- Blue eyeshadow
- Gold eyeshadow
- Angled brush
- Mixing medium
- Makeup remover
- Q-tips
- Small paint brush
- Blush brush
- Brown blush
- Liquid eyeliner
- False lashes
1. Trace
Use a matte blue eyeshadow and an angled brush to map out the shape.
Follow the curve of your natural eye socket but make sure the line is a few millimeters above your natural crease.
Create a slight curve from the outer corner of the eye and draw a line from the lower lash line to meet the line above and create a nice wing.
2. Fill
Now that you have an outline, take some gold eyeshadow and apply it within your outline as a base.
Apply some bright blue eyeshadow on the outer third of the lid, remaining within the guidelines.
When you get toward the center of the lid, feather that color into the gold.
Then use what’s left on the brush to bring more definition to the corners and outline the top of the lid.
Now use a darker blue to darken the outer corner of the wing. Fade that color into the lighter blue creating a gradient.
This is creating layering which helps with longevity so your color lasts longer.
3. Mix pigments
Take a mixing medium and mix it with a cobalt blue pigment.
Mix it together and use an eyeliner brush to trace the color along the outer edge of the wing.
Feather and blend the color into the base.
Now take a lighter blue pigment and mix it with some mixing medium.
Apply it to the center of the lid and blend it out into the cobalt blue.
When most of the product is off the brush, use it to blend the blue into the gold on the other side.
Next mix some gold pigment with a mixing medium. Place this color on the inner third of the eyelid.
4. Clean up
Take a Q-tip with some makeup remover and gently wipe away any mistakes.
5. Crisp outlines
Continuing with the gold go up as high as the guideline and feather it into the blue.
Take the gold down towards the inner corner of the eye and pull it back across the tear duct.
Use some black liquid eyeliner and use a small paintbrush to outline the shape. You want this line to be nice and delicate.
Use the same liquid liner and with a thicker brush bring the line across the top lash line.
Continue that line from the corner of the eye through the middle and to the tip of the wing.
Then use the liquid liner to fill in the lower half of the wing. Tweak the line from the corner of the wing to the lash line until it flows seamlessly.
Use the smaller brush to outline the gold line underneath the eye.
Now use a pencil to line the rest of the top lashes as well as the waterline of the bottom lashes.
Use your small brush and liquid liner again to thicken up the line underneath the tear duct and extend it all the way across the lower lash line.
When you get to the outer corner, connect it with the outer wing.
6. Lashes and details
Apply a coat of mascara to the top and bottom lashes. At this point, you can add some false lashes as well.
Then paint a little hook shape under the eye, which is reminiscent of ancient Egyptian makeup.
Dip the small brush into the liner again and create some small dots in the inner eyelid along the shape of the liner.
The dots should get smaller as they move up.
7. Eyebrows
Define your brows with an angled brush by mixing some black and brown eyeshadow and applying it to the brow.
8. Concealer and makeup
Now it’s time to apply your concealer. To bring a little light underneath the eyes use a lighter concealer.
Sculpt your cheekbones with a light brown shade of makeup. Work it through the hollows of your cheeks with a big brush.
You can also add some highlights to your cheekbones, the tip of your nose, and just above your lips.
9. Lips
Take your gold pigment and mix it with some medium mix. Use a brush to apply this to your lips.
