Oil pulling with coconut oil

Putting coconut oil into a shot glass

1. Fill a glass with oil

Take the coconut oil and fill a shot glass up with it using a spoon to help you. Fill the glass up as much as you can.

2. Heat the oil

If the coconut oil is not already liquid, warm it for about 20 seconds in the microwave to turn it into a liquid.

3. Oil pull

Set a timer for about 1 minute, and now you’re going to oil pull. So take the shot of oil to start pulling but first, let me warn you that it’s not a good taste (as you can see from the look on my face)!

While you have the oil swishing around in your mouth, let me tell you a bit more about oil pulling with coconut oil.

Coconut oil attacks the harmful bacteria in your mouth. It can reduce plaque buildup, prevent tooth decay and fight gum disease. For these reasons, oil pulling or brushing your teeth with coconut oil can significantly improve oral and dental health.

Grab your mixing bowl and squeeze out a significant amount of toothpaste. Next, take your hydrogen peroxide and add about two teaspoons. Then, add about two and a half teaspoons of baking soda. Mix all of the elements together with your toothbrush.

Using baking soda for teeth whitening

I know that a lot of people question the use of baking soda, so I did my research. Have a read of Crest's Baking Soda for Brushing Teeth: Pros & Cons to learn more.

3. Brush your teeth

When you’re all done mixing, you’re going to apply a generous amount to your teeth. The texture of this comes up a bit grainy and salty, so just a warning.
