Who said toothpaste should only come in tubes? In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how you can easily make DIY toothpaste tablets.
These are great for traveling, when you have guests staying overnight, or simply if you want a natural product that's not only good for your teeth but easy on the environment, too!
Tools and materials:
- Calcium carbonate
- Bentonite clay
- Baking soda
- Aloe vera gel
- Stevia drops
- Copaiba essential oil
- Spearmint essential oil
- Mixing bowl
- Spatula
- Measuring teaspoon
- Non-metallic utensil
- Ziplock bag
- Lined baking sheet
1. Preheat your oven
Go ahead and preheat your oven to the lowest setting.
2. Make the DIY toothpaste tablets recipe
Grab a large mixing bowl and add the following ingredients;
- 2 Tablespoons of calcium carbonate
- 1 tablespoon of bentonite clay
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 30 drops of stevia
- 10 drops of copaiba essential oil
- 10 drops of spearmint
Add aloe vera gel a tablespoon at a time until you have a paste-like consistency.
This is what it should look like.
3. Add in a ziplock bag
Open your ziplock bag and spoon the mixture into the bag.
Close and seal the bag. Then, snip the corner, just as you would if you were to make a piping bag for frosting.
4. Make tablets
Now, pipe the mixture onto a clean baking sheet. Make sure it forms into droplet-like structures.
Look how many tablets come out!
5. Bake
Now, pop the DIY toothpaste tablets in the oven and bake them until dry. It should take around an hour or so. The finished product shouldn’t feel sticky or tacky, but completely dry to the touch.
Once dry, remove the tray and let it cool.
Then, place the DIY toothpaste tablets in a jar. You should have enough for the whole month!
6. How to use the DIY toothpaste tablets
Now that we know how to make homemade toothpaste tablets, you’re probably wondering how to use them. Start by popping one of them in your mouth and chew (be sure not to swallow).
Once the tablet is broken up in your mouth, start brushing your teeth.
